BACKGROUND: IgE-mediated secretion from mast cells or basophils depends on the
activity of both spleen tyrosine kinase (syk) and phosphatidyl inositol 3′ kinase (PI3K), but
several specific downregulatory pathways (eg, loss of syk expression) do not. OBJECTIVE:
